County Fair 2010

Once again volunteers from the Woodstock Elks Lodge 1043 brought the Elks drug awareness trailer to the McHenry County fair. For the five days of the fair our members manned the trailer handing out our drug awareness materials to all that showed an interest. And there was much interest this year.

New Eagle Scouts for Troop 131

At First United Methodist Church in Mc Henry, Illinois, on August 1, 2010, an [11” x 17”] American Flag and an Eagle Scout certificate previously prepared by Dave Stack were presented to each of the following Eagle Scouts.

July Blood Drive

July 29, 2010 our lodge hosted a blood drive with the help of the Heartland Blood Center. We had 12 volunteers attend to give donations. We were able to collect 12 units of blood.

Local Student is a Finalist in the ENF Scholarship Competition

Congratulations to Fiona Weeks of Huntley for being chosen by the Illinois Elks Association to move up to the national level in the Most Valuable Student scholarship competition.

New Horizons Veteran Visit

On Sunday, November 1st, 2009 Lester Bacon and Secretary James Ballotti along with other community members paid a visit to the New Horizons Transitional Living facility in Hebron, Illinois where Certificates of Appreciation, provided by the Elks National Veterans Service Commission, where presented to veterans residing there. Approximately 12 residents where present for the presentation. Certificates where presented to 11 veterans who reside at the home.
